Position Summary:
We are seeking an energetic, client-focused Account Manager to join our team in Garrett County, MD. This role comes at an exciting time as our long-time seasoned sales professional retires at the end of February, leaving behind a substantial print account list. You will be responsible for managing and growing these legacy accounts while promoting our suite of digital marketing services. Acting as the primary liaison between clients and our internal teams, you will ensure that all advertising initiatives are aligned with clients’ business objectives and contribute to driving revenue growth.
Key Responsibilities:
- Client Acquisition, Retention & Relationship Management:
- Inherit and manage an established print account list, nurturing long-standing relationships and ensuring a smooth transition for clients.
- Proactively generate and develop new business opportunities while maintaining strong relationships with existing clients.
- Serve as the main point of contact for clients, ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction, retention, and ongoing account growth.
- Sales & Revenue Growth:
- Promote and sell advertising space in the Garrett County Republican Newspaper, on WVNews.com, and across various digital marketing platforms.
- Develop and present tailored proposals, including advertising packages that may combine traditional print, online, and event-based solutions.
- Meet or exceed sales targets while identifying opportunities for upselling and cross-selling additional services.
- Digital Marketing & Event Promotion:
- Effectively communicate the benefits of our digital marketing services, such as social media campaigns, online video advertising, and email marketing.
- Promote sponsorship and advertising opportunities for local events like the “Best of Garrett County” to enhance client exposure and engagement.
- Market Analysis & Reporting:
- Monitor local market trends, competitor activities, and emerging opportunities to adapt strategies and optimize client campaigns.
- Prepare regular account updates, sales reports, and performance forecasts to track key performance indicators and inform strategic decisions.
- Collaboration & Communication:
- Work closely with internal teams (marketing, creative, and event management) to ensure seamless execution and delivery of client campaigns.
- Provide actionable feedback from clients to support the development of future product and service offerings.
Qualifications:
- Experience:
- Proven track record in account management or sales, preferably within the media, advertising, or digital marketing industry.
- Experience managing long-standing client relationships, with a particular emphasis on transitioning and growing legacy accounts.
- Skills:
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
- Self-motivated and capable of working independently as well as part of a team.
- Strong organizational and time management skills with a keen attention to detail.
- Technical Proficiency:
- Familiarity with digital marketing tools and platforms (experience with online ad sales is advantageous).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and CRM software.
- Other:
- A valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to cover the Garrett County region.
- Knowledge of the local business community and an interest in community events is highly desirable.
