GarrettX is seeking an experienced Earthwork Superintendent to join our team. The Earthwork Superintendent will oversee and manage all aspects of earthwork operations on construction projects. This role requires strong leadership, technical expertise, and the ability to ensure projects are completed safely, on time, and within budget.
Responsibilities:
1. Manage and supervise earthwork crews, subcontractors, and equipment operators.
2. Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to develop and execute project plans.
3. Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and company policies, conducting regular safety meetings and inspections.
4. Review project plans, specifications, and schedules to identify requirements and ensure adherence throughout the project lifecycle.
5. Monitor project progress, quality, and costs to identify and address issues proactively.
6. Manage equipment resources, including scheduling, maintenance, and procurement as needed.
7. Provide technical expertise and guidance to resolve complex earthwork challenges.
8. Communicate effectively with project team members, subcontractors, and clients to ensure project goals are met.
9. Prepare and maintain accurate project documentation, including daily reports, progress reports, and as-built drawings.
10. Mentor and train junior staff members to develop skills and knowledge within the earthwork discipline.
Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field preferred.
2. Minimum of 5 years of experience in earthwork construction, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
3. Strong understanding of earthwork principles, including grading, excavation, compaction, and erosion control. Experience with Underground Utility is a big Plus.
4. Proficiency in reading and interpreting project plans, specifications, and engineering drawings.
5. Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to effectively manage and motivate teams.
6. Demonstrated ability to prioritize tasks, problem-solve, and make decisions in a fast-paced environment.
7. Knowledge of relevant safety regulations and best practices in the construction industry.
8. Proficiency in using construction management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
9. Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to project sites as needed.
10. OSHA 30-Hour Construction Safety Certification preferred.
Requirements:
1. Safety Sensitive Position
2. Must be 18 years of age or older.
3. Must have reliable transportation.
4. Must have the ability to work extended hours as required by the workload.
5. Able to work outdoors in all weather conditions and in all types of terrain.
6. Able to meet all physical requirements such as standing, walking, climbing, stooping, bending, and lifting 50 pounds or more.
7. Ability to work around loud noises and can tolerate being exposed to odors, gasses, dust, etc.
8. Must be able to work in extreme temperatures, in confined spaces, and in excavated areas.
9. Arrive at least 15 minutes prior to the start of every shift to ensure the site is ready for daily operation.
