Position Title:Superintendent of Schools
Reports to:South Side School District Board of Education
Location:Bee Branch, AR
District Enrollment:Approximately 480 students
Grade Levels:Pre-K - 12
POSITION OVERVIEW
The Superintendent serves as the chief executive officer of the South Side School District. Providing visionary leadership while ensuring high-quality education for all students. The Superintendent is responsible for the district's overall management, operation, and performance in alignment with the policies established by the Board of Education.
The ideal candidate will be an instructional leader, skilled communicator, and strategic manager committed to student achievement, fiscal responsibility, and community engagement.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Board Relations
Serve as the primary advisor to the Board of Education, providing clear, accurate, and timely information to support informed decision-making.
Communicate effectively with the Board of Education on district performance, finance, personnel, and strategic initiatives.
Foster a collaborative working relationship with the Board of Education while maintaining professional objectivity.
Fiscal Oversight
Develop and manage the district’s budget to ensure financial stability and responsible use of resources.
Oversee state and federal funding compliance, ensuring South Side School District operates within legal and regulatory requirements.
Maintain long-term financial planning, including oversight of district facilities, maintenance, and capital improvements.
Ensure transparency and fiscal responsibility in all financial matters, maximizing funding for student learning.
Academic Success
Lead the development and implementation of curriculum, instruction, and assessment to improve student outcomes.
Promote data-driven decision-making, ensuring the use of assessment results to improve teaching and learning.
Support professional development programs that align with the district's teacher growth and student achievement goals.
Ensure compliance with the Arkansas Department of Education and Elementary and Secondary regulations.
Recruit, develop, and retain high-quality administrators, teachers, and support staff to foster an effective learning environment.
Community Involvement
Serve as the face of the South Side School District, maintaining strong relationships with parents, business leaders, local government, and other stakeholders.
Advocate for public education and represent the South Side School District in state and regional education initiatives.
Ensure effective district and community communication, fostering trust and engagement.
Promote partnerships with businesses, higher education institutions, and community organizations to expand student opportunities.
QUALIFICATIONS
Master's degree, or higher, in Educational Leadership, Administration, or related field.
Valid Arkansas Superintendent License or ability to obtain one before employment.
Proven leadership experience in a school district setting, preferably at the central office level.
Strong knowledge of Arkansas school finance, educational law, and state accountability measures.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
Contract Length: negotiable, based on experience and district needs.
Salary and Benefits: Competitive and commensurate with experience.
