What are the responsibilities and job description for the GVP, (Group Vice President) Engineering, Product Platform Technology position at Gartner?
Gartner is looking for a well-rounded Executive to lead Gartner's Product Platform Technology Platforms. The GVP (Group Vice President) will be responsible for leading a global team of Engineering leaders and a team of 150 engineers. The ideal candidate will be someone who has worked in the consumer web space, has played a key role in development of consumer grade web and mobile platforms and platform transformation. Candidates should have significant demonstrable experience innovating with technology to meet business needs. Gartner's Product platform delivers targeted, actionable insights to C-level executives worldwide, as the cornerstone of our $4 billion Research and Advisory business. We're seeking an experienced, talented, well-rounded executive to lead the technology team that delivers these insights digitally. Reporting into Gartner's Global CIO and be a key thought partner to the Leaders of Product for innovating on scalable platforms which drive Gartner's growth and retention initiatives.
Executive Leadership:
Experience working directly with C-Suite executives in a growing and evolving landscape
Proven track record of influencing and guiding business leaders with Technology decisions
Ability to build and scale global teams from the ground up
Demonstrated ability to identify, grow and develop top talent
Management Skills:
10-15 years of experience as a Technology leader directing the efforts of a team of Software Engineers globally
Should have significant experience collaborating directly with Product Development in problem solving and innovating
Experience building world-class digital products at scale
Experience and temperament to mentor Software Development leaders globally
Must have significant experience in Agile/Scrum, lean product development and process innovation to increase business velocity
Strong interpersonal and communication skills (oral, written and group presentations)
Excellent prioritization skills
Ability to pick up new domains quickly
Must be a builder. All Gartner leaders are builders
Technology Skills:
Minimum of 8-10 years of engineering leadership experience with consumer facing web applications. Candidates who have built SaaS platforms are highly preferred
Strong experience with Microservices and Service oriented architecture
Has practiced the DevOps mindset. Need to have a build, own, deploy, operate mindset
Proven expertise in developing cloud native applications, leveraging the cloud for scale and velocity. AWS preferred
Familiarity in AWS/Java/Spring Suite/ReactJS or similar tech stack
Exposed to UX best practice skills for B2C applications
Experience in driving technical standards and architectural vision
Strong knowledge of web security and best practices of secure web development
Operational Skills:
Should be able to balance transformational, development and operational needs of Gartner product platforms
Should be able to interact well with both internal associates and external clients in resolving operational issues
Must have a culture of continuous improvement to identify systemic operational issues and resolve them rapidly
