Job Description
- Assist with job interviews, conducts performance reviews and makes recommendations for hiring.
- Responsible for engineering quality and timeliness in a highly cross-functional engineering environment.
- Can organize work, monitor, report and achieve progress to project schedule
- Prepares documentation, reports, correspondence, procedures, specifications and technical calculations; Responds to classification and customer comment letters.
- Able to develop piping schematics and layouts based on customer requirements and specifications.
- Applies expert knowledge to develop innovative solutions to technically challenging projects
- Prepares documentation, information and communications, Engineering Change Notices, specifications and ensures conformance to policies relating to engineering procedures, functions and systems.
- Provides technical follow up and support on piping matters, from proposal stage to aftermarket, including vendor comparison and selection, fabrication site support, installation, start-up and operation.
- Expert with piping components materials and specifications. i.e. which specs govern common component performance / dimensions and materials (such as ANSI B16.5 for flange dimensions and ratings, A105 as common material for forged flanges etc.)
- Conducts structural calculations to support pipe design and verification; capable of strength of materials
- Prepare for and participate in HAZID (Hazard Identification) studies and HAZOPs.
- Ensure HAZOP actions and recommendations are appropriately answered and closed out.
- Responsible for supporting risk assessment studies conducted for projects.
- Has a basic understanding of process requirements and operations.
- Provides input to project scheduling for dependencies, durations and manpower requirements. Develops plans for sharing resources among competing projects, including management of subcontractors
- Able to do material take-offs and center of gravity calculations
Skills Required
- 10 – 15 years of experience in offshore or marine piping engineering
- Expert in offshore piping design and codes
- Experience in use of pipe stress analysis using Caesar II
- Strong knowledge of spreadsheets, databases and AutoCAD a definite plus
- Possesses a basic knowledge of offshore production process requirements and the capability of developing P&IDs from customer specifications
- Familiarity with risk assessment concepts and methods
- Experience and capabilities in PDMS a plus.
- Willing to travel if required to participate in HAZOPs, project reviews, fabrication site visits. Durations typically are for approximately two weeks.
Education/Training/Certifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering
