As a Material Estimator, you’ll be essential to our project success, creating detailed material estimates, coordinating with engineering, and ensuring our estimates align with project requirements. This role requires a strong analytical mindset, the ability to interpret technical drawings, and a commitment to accuracy and attention to detail. You’ll work closely with our Engineering and Sales teams, making sure every project runs smoothly and meets Gastineau’s high standards. We’re searching for a skilled Material Estimator to support our projects from the initial design to final delivery, ensuring accuracy and precision at every stage.
What You’ll Do:
- Project Estimates: Use engineering drawings to create accurate material lists, pricing estimates, and supporting data, ensuring precision at every stage.
- Collaboration: Partner with Sales to prepare both preliminary and final quotes that reflect client needs and project specifications.
- Documentation Management: Maintain detailed records of change orders, revisions, and project documents for effective communication and smooth project execution.
- Technical Communication: Act as a liaison between the Engineering, Sales, and Project Management teams, addressing any inquiries and technical questions effectively.
- Coordination with Operations: Collaborate with the Operations & Logistics department to seamlessly transition customers from the planning/blueprint stage to the shipping stage, ensuring timelines and requirements are met.
- Quality Control: Ensure all quotes, estimates, and materials lists are precise, reflecting the purchased material package, with no discrepancies.

What We’re Looking For:
- Experience: 3 years in an estimating or materials-related role, preferably within construction or manufacturing.
- Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with industry codes, ability to interpret blueprints, and strong computer skills. CAD experience in residential and commercial construction is preferred.
- Analytical Skills: Attention to detail, logical thinking, and the ability to create highly accurate material lists and estimates.
- Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication to liaise effectively with internal teams, clients, and vendors.
- Extra Credit: Experience with CAD software and knowledge of construction industry standards.
