What are the responsibilities and job description for the Brewery Sales Representative position at Gaston Brewing Company?

As the first point of contact for Gaston Brewing, you and are tasked with increasing sales by building strong relationships with our current and perspective accounts with the goal of increasing both brand awareness and sales within the assigned territory.

This position works directly with wholesalers and retailers to ensure maximum saturation of the company's products in the relevant territory and will be focused on both on-premise and off-premise activations. Brewery Sales Representatives must represent the Company in a professional, responsible, fun, and culturally appropriate manner at all times. This position will be working largely autonomously and is one of the more public positions within the Company. You will be given ample opportunity to learn, grow, and develop while being an integral part of the Company.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Foster and grow current account relationships within the assigned territory.
  • Develop key customer accounts within assigned territory and build on the supplier/retailer relationship to grow sales and distribution.
  • Educate consumers and accounts on new product lines and strategically influence the sale of product lines as directed by the Operation Manager.
  • Propose strategies for expanding territory accounts.
  • Create, plan, and schedule events within the account territory to help grow both branding and sales. This includes but is not limited to promotions, tastings, and special events like festivals and celebrations.
  • Schedule regular ride-a-longs with wholesaler equivalents.
  • Ability to work independently to achieve sales goals.
  • Coordinate with marketing to ensure that events are aligned with brand management strategy.
  • Ability to prioritize workflow and multiple tasks.
  • Track and analyze territory sales numbers to direct and guide personal activities and efforts.
  • Manage professional individual administrative duties/paperwork.
  • Maintain assigned vehicle.
  • Deliver to accounts as needed outside normal delivery schedule.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Company and Product Branding:

  • Work with Brand Manager to enforce and promote Gaston Brewing marketing goals at events and with business partners and accounts.
  • Maintain regular communication with key distributor personnel and fulfill needs as required (POS, tap handles, sell sheets).
  • Ensure product quality through account calls & warehouse visits.
  • Follow up at accounts to ensure our beers are properly labeled, represented, stored, and served to our standards.

Administrative Duties:

  • Communicate with management and production staff regarding orders, trends, seasonal considerations, and any sales related issues including weekly market visit recaps.
  • Complete and submit weekly work & travel logs, including reimbursable receipts per Gaston Brewing’s format and accountable plan, to Sales Manager.
  • Handle customer inquiries regarding product info and other questions.
  • Submit monthly reports to the Sales Manager on performance and on key accounts.

Education and Experience:

  • Previous brewery or beer wholesaler experience is preferred.
  • Working knowledge of the craft brewing industry to include beer flavor profiles and major beer styles.
  • Sales or customer service experience in the alcoholic beverage industry and experience with distributor practices is preferred.
  • Track record of excellence in sales

Other Requirements:

  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
  • Eligibility for alcoholic beverage licenses

Schedule:

  • Monday to Friday
  • Must be available to work occasional nights/weekends for events

Working Conditions:

  • Travel daily within assigned territory is required. Company vehicle will be provided.
  • Ability to stand/walk for long periods of time.
  • Ability to lift up to 55 lbs. is required.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $40,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
