What are the responsibilities and job description for the People Operations Manager position at Gaston & Wyatt?
For forty years, Gaston & Wyatt has quietly built a reputation as one of the country’s leading providers of architectural millwork, windows, doors and other products from our home here in Charlottesville. Our award-winning work has been featured in numerous national publications such as Architectural Digest, Veranda and House Beautiful. We have an immediate opening for a full- or part-time People Operations Manager to join our growing family.
Specific responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Handle verification of employee time and helping with payroll process
- Administer all benefit programs, answer employee questions, and coordinate enrollments
- Coordinate all recruiting efforts and strategy – understand needs, define needed plan, maintain ads, manage headhunters, maintain relationships with targeted schools/sources, locate and hire interns, filter and conduct first screens of potential hires, coordinate visits/on-site interviews, prepare and negotiate offer letters, and coordinates all required pre-hire checks
- Manage onboarding of new employees and notifications for eligibility of benefits
- Develop employee training programs/opportunities and strategies for career progression, and counsel employees on both
- Oversee and ensure attention to a thoughtful employee recognition program
- Assist with employee disciplinary issues and terminations
- Maintain employee files
- W-2 preparation/distribution, assist with 1099s, and maintain COIs
- Backup support/cross-trained on accounting tasks if possible
Our ideal candidate would have an interest in design, architecture, and/or home construction. Experience with traditional human resource best practices is required. As well, we are seeking an individual who can help us locate, hire, train and grow the next generation of our company. We need a Gaston & Wyatt evangelist consistently in the market working on our behalf to attract the talent that we need to continue to grow.
