What are the responsibilities and job description for the EMT/Medical Assistant position at Gastroenterology Associates of Colorado Springs?
Medical assistant/EMT needed for scope technician/preoperative position in outpatient endoscopy center.
Obtain vital signs and other necessary information as required for proper evaluation of patient in accordance with the facility requirements.
Insertion of IV lines.
Prepare and maintain instruments and equipment. Clean, and disinfect endoscopes and other endoscopic instruments according to manufacturer recommendations and facility standards.
Prepare and maintenance of the clinic area to include but not to limited to: cleaning and stocking examination rooms, daily setup and securing of computer (laptops) equipment, and maintenance of diagnostic equipment.
Return routine patient telephone calls such as pre-procedure questions or post-procedure concerns.
Maintain positive, professional and cooperative demeanor throughout all interactions with patients, staff, physicians and members of management.
Maintains safe, secure, and healthy work environment by following and enforcing standards and procedures; complying with legal regulations. Maintain patient confidence and protect operations by keeping patient care information confidential. Understands and adheres to the legal responsibilities and requirements with the medical assistant role. Seeks knowledge and understanding of quality measures and patient experience.
Administrative Duties:
- Using computer applications.
- Answering telephones.
- Greeting patients
- Updating and filing patient medical records.
- Scheduling appointments.
Other tasks include:
- Prepare suites or rooms according to endoscopic procedure requirements.
- Assist physicians or registered nurses in the conduct of endoscopic procedures.
- Multistep disinfection of endoscopic scopes and other equipment.
- Maintain or send endoscopic equipment for repair.
- Perform safety checks to verify proper equipment functioning.
- Attend in-service training to validate or refresh basic professional skills.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $16.00 - $20.00 per hour
