Gastrointestinal Associates, LLP is seeking to hire an experienced medical receptionist. The ideal candidate will have a positive attitude, excellent customer service skills, a quick learner, and engaged by a fast-paced environment. Applicants must be reliable, dependable, and dedicated to excellence.
Preferred skills for this position include medical billing experience, electronic medical record experience, history of working in a medical office, and supervisory experience.
This position is responsible for the following processes:
o Process any incoming faxes within the EMR system.
o Effectively manages large volumes of inbound faxes, in a timely manner.
o Prepare or create patient charts, gathering information and documents from patient and/or referring provider.
o Responsible for obtaining all missing chart contents needed to complete medical record.
o Responsible for collection and filing/scanning in medical & administrative documents to include laboratory, pathology, EKG, x-ray reports, etc…. received prior/postdate of clinic visit/procedure from the fax que.
o Obtain and enter all insurance information, required authorizations or referrals for new patients. i.e., Essence, VA referrals, Ambetter, etc…
o Validate and enter all insurances including secondary & tertiary.
o Run Eligibility and confirm accuracy in the appropriate insurance portals.
o Coordinate with physicians and clinical staff to ensure new patient referrals are assigned appropriately.
o Ensure that all required/requested medical records are accurate & complete.
o Upload incoming records into EMR.
o Ability to work in conjunction with each other to ensure that fax que & referrals are worked in a timely manner.
o Replies to requests for release of medical information ensuring all required time frames for disclosure are met.
o Follow up on incoming requests from patients requesting their medical records.
o Document notes in patients EMR about communications with patient in an accurate & timely manner.
o Effectively communicates with all departments.
o Files documents correctly, per protocol.
o Distributes documents correctly and in timely manner.
o Secures patient information and maintains patient confidentiality by completing and safeguarding medical records and keeping patient records confidential.
o Follows established processes to obtain, manage and utilize patient information to enhance and improve individual and organizational performance in patient care.
o Provides for confidentiality, integrity, and security of medical records.
o Facilitates timely and accurate medical records management.
o Maintains a system of filing to ensure prompt location of individual records.
o Performs other duties as assigned by Administrator, Office Manager, & Billing office manager.

o Utilizes appropriate services when needed to communicate with employees and patients with speech and hearing disorders.

Pay: $16.00 - $20.00 per hour
