The HR Specialist provides support for various Human Resources functions across the organization, including GATE Retail Stores, Fuel, and GATE Express Carwash operations. This role is responsible for assisting with recruitment, employee relations, compliance, and maintaining HR systems while collaborating with payroll, benefits, and training teams. The HR Specialist/Generalist plays a key role in ensuring HR policies and processes are effectively implemented across multiple locations.

- Must successfully complete a pre-employment drug screening and background check

- Must have a valid driver’s license
- High school diploma or GED
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
- 2 years of HR experience, preferably in retail, fuel sales, or multi-unit operations.
- Strong knowledge of employment laws and HR best practices.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships at all levels.
- Proficiency in HRIS, payroll systems, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
- Dayforce HCM experience is a plus
- HR certification (PHR, SHRM-CP) is a plus.
- Experience working with hourly and field-based employees.
- Bilingual skills (Spanish or other languages) are a plus
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays

- Attend all required training, office and departmental meetings
- Assist in recruiting and hiring employees for corporate and field positions, ensuring a smooth hiring process.
- Develop job postings and screen candidates to match business needs.
- Oversee the onboarding process, including new hire paperwork, orientation, and training coordination.
- Serve as a point of contact for employee questions, concerns, and HR-related issues.
- Support performance management processes, including coaching managers on handling employee relations matters.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local labor laws, including wage and hour regulations, workplace safety, and equal employment policies.
- In coordination with HR leadership, investigate and resolve employee complaints, conflicts, and disciplinary actions following company policy.
- Assist employees with payroll inquiries and coordinate with payroll providers to resolve discrepancies.
- Support benefits administration, including enrollment, eligibility tracking, and employee communications.
- Help implement training programs for employees and managers, including compliance training and leadership development.
- Coordinate ongoing learning opportunities to support employee growth and engagement.
- Maintain and update HR records in HRIS (Human Resource Information System).
- Generate reports on HR metrics, turnover, and employee engagement trends.
- Perform any additional tasks requested or assigned by the Director of Human Resources.
