Program Coordinator – After School STEM Education (Grades 8-12)
Location: Lompoc and Santa Barbara/ This is not a remote position
Position Type: Part-Time (25 hours/week)
Salary: $28-32/hr DOE

Overview:
We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Program Coordinator to manage and oversee an after-school STEM education program for students in grades 8-12. The Program Coordinator will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of the program, including the development, coordination, and delivery of engaging STEM activities. This role requires strong organizational skills, a passion for education, and a commitment to creating an enriching learning environment for middle and high school students.
Key Responsibilities:
- Program Management: Oversee the day-to-day operations of the after-school STEM program, ensuring that all activities align with educational goals and objectives.
- Curriculum Support: Collaborate with instructors to implement engaging and innovative STEM curricula that promote hands-on learning in science, technology, engineering, and math.
- Student Engagement: Foster a positive, inclusive learning environment that encourages student participation, collaboration, and problem-solving.
- Scheduling & Logistics: Develop and maintain the program schedule, ensuring that activities are well-organized and resources are appropriately allocated.
- Staff Coordination: Assist with recruiting, training, and supervising program staff, including volunteers and instructors.Recruit ProgramMentors for students.
- Communication: Serve as the primary point of contact for students, parents, and staff. Communicate program updates, student progress, and any concerns promptly and professionally.
- Assessment & Reporting: Track student progress and program outcomes, providing regular reports to stakeholders (parents, school administrators, etc.). Assess program effectiveness and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Safety & Compliance: Ensure a safe and supportive environment for students. Follow all safety protocols and ensure the program complies with local regulations and guidelines.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in education, STEM-related field, or a relevant area (or equivalent experience). A teaching certification or background in STEM education is a plus.
- Experience: At least 2 years of experience working with middle or high school students, preferably in an after-school or academic setting.
Skills:
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with students, parents, and staff.
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal).
- Familiar with STEM subjects and have a passion for making them engaging for students.
- Ability to manage and motivate a diverse group of students.
- Experience with classroom management and conflict resolution.
- Technology Proficiency: Comfort with using educational technology tools and software to enhance learning experiences.
Preferred Skills/Experience:
- Experience in coordinating after-school programs or extracurricular activities.
- Knowledge of STEM curriculum development and innovative teaching methods.
Working Hours:
- 25 hours per week, typically afternoons (Monday to Friday), with occasional evening or weekend commitments for special events or meetings.
