What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assistant Banquet Manager position at Gateway Hotel & Conference Center?
Gateway Hotel & Conference Center in Ames, Iowa is hiring for an Assistant Banquet Manager to help manage and direct the banquet operations, ensuring excellent service. This position will report to the Banquet Manager and will partner closely with the Sales Team.
Open availability is required, as the hours for this position will vary. 1-2 years in a food and beverage supervisor role is required for this position; Prefer hotel and/or banquet supervisory experience.
General Responsibilities:
- Ensures events happen on time; make adjustments as needed and relay that information to the appropriate personnel
- Manage all event room details, including overseeing the set-up and tear down/close of events
- Leads servers and bartenders in a professional manner, delivering exceptional service for all events
- Assists with managing the cost and quality control of banquet services, including labor
- Acts as a liaison between the guests and other Hotel staff
- Performs monthly inventory and orders supplies as needed
- Assist in weekly scheduling, as well as actively participate in the hiring process, train, develop and coach employees
- Responsible for end-of-shift duties including, but not limited to, billing, cleaning event space and all work areas, returning banquet bar inventory, and releasing staff.
- Comply with attendance requirements and be available to work on a regular basis
