- Knowledgeable or trainable on BMW product line.
- Working knowledge or trainable in automotive retail center computer systems, (R/R computer system preferred, as well as proficiency in the use of Excel and Word programs)
- Outgoing and patient personality with good customer relation’s ability.

Working Relationships
- Report to the New Car Sales Manager.
- Work closely with the Business Manager, Service Department, and all other employees to achieve retail facility goals.
Customer Responsibilities
- Generate positive impressions during the shopping and buying experiences by serving customers in a friendly, professional, and prompt manner.
- Match customers to the appropriate cars or services by actively listening to their needs. Identify and handle hot prospects by following appropriate BMW sales guidelines.
- Establish a consulting relationship with customers by following procedures and guidelines provided by management on effective and uniform handling of customers, and by promoting the scope, value, and features of the products and services offered.
- Maintain ongoing personal communications with customer and achieve high ratings for customer satisfaction in internal BMW surveys and through external sources. Maintain continuous follow-up with customers who refer prospects.
- Increase customer base and develop dealer business by:
- Prospecting Contacts with potential customers of new cars by phone, mail, and personal contact methods.
- Follow-up Contacts with existing customers and with customer referrals.
- Sales Contacts with customers to sell a car, including meeting/greeting, fact finding, presentation, demonstration, and closing activities both in- and out-of-house.
- Increase prospect base by developing a group of prospect locators and sales associates.
- Upgrade knowledge of BMW products and services and maintain professional and technical expertise by training on-the-job, attending trade shows and educational programs, establishing personal network, reviewing industry publications, and participating in professional societies.
- Be a good-will ambassador for the retail facility by representing all offers and terms accurately to both customers and management.
- Be thoroughly familiar with new products, including new features, specifications, colors, etc. introduced over the last four years, so that you can explain benefits to customers. Be familiar with competitive products, features, etc., so that customers understand the benefits of purchasing a quality BMW product.
Marketing Responsibilities
- Achieve unit sales targets for new cars and related products and services from retail and/or fleet customers.
- Achieve target levels of gross profit per unit for new cars and related products and services.
- Assist in pricing by monitoring costs and supply and demand, and by gathering competitor information on pricing, new products, delivery schedules, merchandising techniques, etc.
- Assist in creating and implementing effective marketing strategies, advertising, and promotions to increase sales and profits by evaluating results and competitive developments.
- Close a sale properly by using closing techniques, being profit-minded, and understanding New and Used car financing and insurance.
Transaction Responsibilities
- Inform management by submitting activity and result reports; such as daily call reports, weekly work plans, and monthly and annual territory analyses.
- Provide historical records by using and keeping accurate records, forms, files, etc. on area and customer sales.
- Ensure order books, price books, price lists, catalogs, and all other sales materials, forms, and brochures are current, accurate, distributed, and stocked.
- Ensure all manufacturer/supplier programs, warranties, etc., are followed by monitoring requirements and keeping required records.
- Assist in collecting past due receivable accounts as needed.
- Make effective deliveries by following all sale details, inspecting every car sold, introducing customers to the Service Manager, and making a personalized delivery of the car.
Logistical Responsibilities
- Maintain the security and good condition of vehicle inventories.
- Ensure safe and proper maintenance and use of physical resources, including exterior display and parking, showroom area, display systems, and demonstrator vehicles.
