We are seeking a Scale House & Machine Operator who is responsible for overseeing scale operations, processing customer transactions, and operating heavy equipment in the stone yard. This role requires strong attention to detail, customer service skills, and the ability to operate machinery such as forklifts and wheel loaders
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Scale House Operations
- Operate and monitor scales to weigh inbound and outbound loads accurately.
- Enter vehicle license plate numbers and required load information into the database.
- Determine proper disposal fees based on defined formulas and criteria.
- Process customer transactions, including receiving cash and credit card payments.
- Reconcile cash drawers and prepare daily cash deposits; deliver deposits as required.
- Direct customers to appropriate unloading and processing areas.
- Review and correct computer-generated reports for accuracy.
- Maintain detailed records, including tickets, inventory reports, and financial documentation.
- Perform general office duties such as data entry, report generation, and correspondence using Microsoft Word and Excel.
Stone Yard Operations
- Load and unload materials using forklifts and wheel loaders.
- Conduct daily inspections of all machinery and report any maintenance needs.
- Monitor and maintain sand, gravel, and stone inventory levels.
- Assist customers with selecting and loading materials.
- Ensure the work area is clean, organized, and free of safety hazards.
- Perform miscellaneous duties as assigned by management.
COMPETENCIES:
- Experience with and/or knowledge of mason supplies
- Experience operating heavy machinery such as wheel loaders and forklifts.
- Math skills for inventory tracking and transaction processing.
- Strong computer proficiency, particularly with Microsoft Word, Excel, and database systems.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
- Certified Forklift Operator (or ability to obtain certification)
WORKING ENVIRONMENT: 100% outside in all weather conditions. Operation of machinery, getting in and out of machinery. Exposure to loud and dusty conditions daily.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling ,stooping, crouching, crawling, climbing, twisting, lifting, and pulling heavy loads. Must have the ability to lift and/or move items up to 100lbs. This position requires employees to regularly talk and hear
