What are the responsibilities and job description for the Installation Technician position at GB Shades?
Summary/Objective
Installation Technician uses skilled techniques to perform installation tasks required on new construction sites as well as finished spaces. The position requires strong construction knowledge, advanced hand tool experience, and the ability to learn new products.
Essential Functions
- Follows daily plan by the lead installer and successfully completes tasks required.
- Communicates well with lead installer and other helpers during work hours.
- Installs various commercial window treatments such as vertical blinds, horizontal blinds, manual shades, motorized shades, and various associated components.
- Knowledge and safe operation of hand tools: power drills, screw drivers, laser levels, hammers, and measuring tapes.
- Must be able to read and understand basic architectural blueprint reading.
- Perform duties with a high level of enthusiasm and consistency for a professional turnover of product.
- Review of work is primarily for compliance with objectives, timeliness, and quality of workmanship.
- Maintains project punch list and debriefs Operations department on daily progress.
- Is capable of lifting up to 50lbs of material overhead, can safely climb ladder with assisting in installation of single or two man installation of product.
- May perform work on elevated platforms up to 50 feet high.
- Adopts and enforces the company’s “Safety First“ attitude along with the reporting of any safety procedures not followed.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., 40 hours per week with possible overtime opportunities.
Travel
Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-area and overnight travel may be expected.
Required Education and Experience
High school diploma or equivalent. Experience as junior carpenter or window treatment installer is preferred, but we will train the proper candidate. Skilled with using hand tools safely and demonstrates the drive to learn multiple products and manufacturers.
Additional Eligibility Qualifications
Valid driver’s license and clean driving record. OSHA 10 is recommended, but we will train the right candidate if needed.
