GC Associates requires a highly organized and detail-oriented Technical Writer to develop, edit, and maintain documentation related to Disability Evaluation System (DES) processes and policies. Must have strong writing and analytical skills and a keen ability to translate and communicate complex information into clear and concise actionable documents.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESDocumentation Creation :
Draft and update various high-level Department of Defense (DoD) documents, to include various functional area DES-related documents and / or DoD issuances.Content Review :
Review and edit high-level documentation prepared by colleagues for clarity, accuracy, and compliance with DoD standards. Ability to refine and improve content for readability.Collaboration :
Collaborate with various functional area teams and subject matter experts to gather information and ensure technical accuracy in documentation.Research and Analysis :
Conduct thorough research to understand complex topics and translate them into readable content.Process Improvement :
Identify areas for documentation improvement and implement best practices in technical writing.User Engagement :
Gather feedback from DoD Customers to refine documents and ensure they meet the needs of the Customer and organization.Style Guide Implementation :
Ensure documentation adheres to established DoD guidelines and maintains consistency across all spectrums.SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED FOR THE POSITION :
Master's degree in English, Technical Communication, Business Administration, or a related field10 years of experience in technical writing and documentation review, preferably in an DoD or military environmentExceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills, with a focus on clarity and precisionExcellent verbal and written communication skills for collaboration with Program Management and other stakeholdersStrong ability to gather information from various sources, including subject matter experts and technical documentationHigh level of accuracy and attention to detail in all documentationAbility to manage multiple documentation projects, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlinesThorough knowledge of technical concepts relevant to DoD written guidanceKnowledge of the DES program from the DoD and / or Military Service levelProficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word and Excel)
