The Supervisor of Special Assignments plays a key role in supporting the fifteen (15) public school districts within the county and DCIU programs as required. This dynamic position serves as a key liaison, offering expertise, guidance, and hands-on support to districts on an as-needed basis. The individual in this role will frequently pivot in an 'on-loan' capacity, providing targeted assistance to address specific challenges, initiatives, and projects, ensuring the delivery of high-quality education and administrative services. Assignments within DCIU programs will be required as well.
Essential Functions
Serve as a resource for district administrators, offering guidance and support on educational programming, compliance, and operations. Collaborate with district leaders to assess needs and implement customized solutions for challenges in curriculum, instruction, student services, or administration.
Lead and participate in special projects and initiatives assigned by the Intermediate Unit or partnering districts. Monitor and evaluate project outcomes, ensuring alignment with district goals and state regulations.
Design and deliver training and workshops for district personnel on relevant topics, including instructional strategies, compliance requirements, and leadership development. Facilitate collaborative professional learning communities across districts.
Act as a liaison between the Intermediate Unit and district stakeholders, maintaining open communication to foster positive relationships. Represent the Intermediate Unit at district meetings, state-level committees, and community engagements as necessary.
Support districts in meeting federal, state, and local regulations, including those related to IDEA, ESSA, and other mandates. Share and promote best practices in education, including innovative formation for the purpose of provide useful information for effective decision making.
Maintains knowledge of current research and evidenced-based best practices for the purpose of developing, assessing, and improving the program as well as maintaining compliance with all applicable policies, procedures, laws and regulations.
Oversees monitors, and develops systems and training (e.g. IEPs, ERs, manifestation determinations, FBA, BSP, Title 1) for the purpose of ensuring all documentation is effectively incorporated into educational programs and aligned to meet student needs.
Administers program related data collection and preparation (e.g. development and maintenance of data collection methodologies; data verification;) for the purpose of submitting required reports for Federal, State and Local government.
Directs program resources (e.g. program equipment, materials, inventory) for the purpose of ensuring effective and efficient utilization.
Manages the selection, assignment, orientation, evaluation, support and supervision of program staff (e.g. maintaining staff records to include leaves of absence, leave requests, travel expenses, certification verification; overseeing staff payroll authorizations, terminations and contract implementation) for the purpose of providing program specific human resource management.
Prepares and administers program budget and allocates funds (e.g. coordinates requests; allocates funds within budgetary fiscal restraints; implements budgetary control functions; adheres to all IU bidding and purchasing policies, regulations and procedures) for the purpose of providing program services aligned with the program budget. Teaching methods, equity initiatives, and technology integration.
Performs other duties as requested and/or assigned.
Requirements:
Education Required: Master’s degree in related field. (e.g. Education, Curriculum and Instruction). Shall have experience in special education.
Certification Required: PDE Teaching Certification in a K-12 Subject Area, Supervisor Certificate in a realted field (e.g. K-12 Curriculum and Instruction,) should possess a supervisor of special Education Certification.
Experience Required: Three (3) years minimum of progressive administrative educational experience
Salary : $124,761 - $149,671
