What are the responsibilities and job description for the Estimator position at GC Packaging, LLC?
POSITION SUMMARY:
Estimates total production costs and time requirements based on job specification and customer deadlines. Determines and implements cost efficient methods to produce each job.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Evaluates job specifications for each quote.
Estimates the time required to produce each job.
Estimates labor and material costs for each job.
Obtains pricing information from internal and/or external sources to perform each job.
Determines equipment requirements and understands equipment rates for each job.
Prepares bid packages.
Proofreads quotes for accuracy.
Provides information regarding estimates and quotes to employees within the Company.
Obtains many quotes on outside purchases via email.
OTHER FUNCTIONS
This position requires a thorough knowledge of the print and finishing industries, including familiarity with vendors and suppliers. This position also performs other projects for the company as needed.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties and responsibilities of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk, hear, walk, sit, and kneel. This job also requires clear vision at 20 inches or less (can be correctable with lenses). Peripheral vision (ability to observe an area that can be seen up and down or to each side while eyes are fixed on a given point.) The ability to adjust focus (ability to adjust eyes to bring an object into focus) is necessary. Distant vision (clear vision at 20 ft. or more) and color vision (ability to distinguish colors). MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Education/Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Extensive experience in graphic arts production and finishing environment.
- Experience with Microsoft Office applications, with emphasis in Excel or Access.
Skills/Knowledge:
- Good communication skills (both verbal and written)
- Detail / logic individual
- Work is performed in an administrative office setting. Must be flexible and available to work additional hours when necessary.
