What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assistant Controller position at GCON Management Company LLC?
The Assistant Controller will work directly with the Controller directing, coordinating, and maintaining project accounting and financial systems that properly reflects the financial position of the organization, including serving as the leader of the financial accounting and project accounting group. A strong procedural background will guide continuous improvement in process and controls. Consultative skills will guide key conversations with leadership teams implementing goals and objectives in alignment with company strategic vision. Will serve as a resource in all aspects of accounting and ensure all accounting activities are in accordance with established legal, regulatory, and organizational guidelines.

Responsibilities:
- Knowledge of a broad set of accounting principles and techniques, financial analysis, account reconciliations and cost accounting.
- Developing financial statements, closing the books accurately and efficiently, and identifying opportunities to improve processes through automation, standardization, etc.
- Provide strategic and tactical leadership to the project accounting and financial accounting teams
- Interpret relevant laws and regulations to ensure organizational compliance.
- Ensure strong internal control measures by establishing or upgrading control policies.
- Adhere to compliance requirements in line with organization's status designations.
- Respond to audit queries and adjustments with supporting documents.
- Provide support to auditors and other relevant stakeholders during audit process.
- Strong background in external and internal reporting.
- Exceptional analytical, quantitative, and statistical skills.
- Work cross-functionally building relationships.

- Develop and implement innovative and creative solutions to business problems.

Skills/Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in accounting, finance or a related field or equivalent experience.
- 5 years of relevant work experience as a Senior Accountant or equivalent project accounting experience.
- 2 years of leadership/supervisory experience.
- Work in Process experience in construction at a General Contractor or Subcontractor.
- Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and its applications in accounting, budgeting, and finance.
- Advanced proficiency with ERP systems, Microsoft Excel, including VLOOKUP, Pivot Table, table, chart, graph, and import/export functions and financial modeling.
- Ability to self-teach/navigate with accounting software systems.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Masters degree in business administration or accounting
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) eligible
- Textura Experience
- CMiC Experience
- Experience with joint ventures
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times.
