What You Will Do
Equipment
- As primary technical resource must be able to understand, troubleshoot and make corrections to automation systems and Programmable Logic Controls (PLC) in an assigned production area.
- Serve as primary resource for troubleshooting and performing repairs on equipment, machines and their controls.
- Monitor and perform work to improve OEE in assigned area.
- Coordinate and work with Engineering to identify when equipment upgrades are required.
- Participate in Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) activities in the assigned area.
- Help and work with Maintenance Team and Process Improvement Engineers to ensure all appropriate Preventative Maintenance Plans for Automation Systems are being followed.
- Follow all Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) requirements.
- Use appropriate PPE as the work dictates.
- Utilize proper equipment Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO) procedures and notify operations leaders of any LOTO deficiencies.
- Always work with a focus on safety.
- Solid verbal/written communication skills coupled with strong interpersonal skills.
- Advanced computer skills – high proficiency in Microsoft office products with the ability to grasp new systems quickly.
- Solid understanding how PLCs, Robots, and other automation equipment work and the ability to set up, program, and maintain this equipment.
- Strong problem-solving skills with demonstrated ability to analyze automation equipment issues to implement solutions.
- Eligible to work overtime based on business needs.
- Ability to collaborate with hourly and salary personnel to meet the needs of operators and the shop.
- High initiative, self-starter, proactive, dedicated, results oriented.
What you need to Succeed
Minimum Qualifications
- High School diploma and five years’ demonstrated experience troubleshooting and working with automation and/or electrical systems.
- Must have ability to understand and troubleshoot mechanical and electrical systems.
- Associate or higher degree in Mechatronics, Electrical/Electronics Technology, Robotics, or related field with experience in automation systems or equivalent experience.
- Three years’ experience in an automation systems type role in a high-volume manufacturing environment.
- Hands on and relevant experience with PLCs, distributed I/O, servo controls, and robots. Preferably GE/Emerson PLCs and Fanuc Robots.
- Experience in Control, Pneumatic, Hydraulic, Mechanical, and Electrical systems.
- Work with parts/equipment which may be hot, cold, and/or wet.
- Use a wide range of powered tools and hand tools and vibratory tools/equipment.
- Operate motorized equipment, including but not limited to scissor lifts, JLGs, fork trucks, etc.
- Must be capable of attaining annual medical clearance for respirator usage as well as clearance for all areas of the plant.
- Intermittently sit or stand with frequent walking.
- Occasionally lift or move component parts up to 50 lbs.
- Pushing/pulling up to 50 lbs.
- Use hands to handle or feel parts - grasp, squeeze, pinch, manual dexterity.
- Reach with hands and arms, stoop, twist, kneel, crouch, bend at the waist or crawl.
- Talk and hear, use close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and peripheral vision.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
- Frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts.
- Occasionally exposed to wet and /or humid conditions; high, precarious places, fumes, or airborne particles, foam rooms and caustic chemicals; risk of electrical shock, and vibration.
