Job Description Summary The F-18 Production Coach manages the daily operation for manufacturing generators for both the Navy and Boeing F-18 orders with an hourly workforce of 30 build associates. This department is unique in that it requires a candidate to be able to lead and facilitate cross function teams of engineers, quality, and material specialist to achieve product quality, cost and output metrics. A nuance to this position is that it requires a working understanding of collective bargaining and contractual governance as we are a union site. Due to the multifaceted nature of the department, a strong candidate must have a solid background in operations, conflict resolution and material management.

Job Description
Roles and Responsibilities:

Oversight and management of front-line manufacturing employees involving:
  • Oversight and management of hourly direct reports consisting of approximately 30 build specialists.
  • Drive continuous improvement activities for the Team
  • Provide mentorship and coaching to subordinates and peers alike.
  • Focus on tactical goals while not losing sight of strategic priorities.
  • Lead daily at point problem solving with your direct team & support areas.
  • Develop strategies to achieve deliveries including developing capacity models.
  • Manage labor capacity and hire as workflow and orders dictate.
  • Maintain training certifications and ISO audit certification.
  • Develop solutions within a "Lean" culture and team setting to achieve organizational goals.
  • Engage peers and workforce to develop projects that impact the productivity of the team.
  • Must be able to work cross functionally with other business leaders to manage work in process inventories, customer priorities while achieving business metrics.


Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college (or a high school diploma / GED with at least 7 years of experience in Manufacturing)
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in Manufacturing
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in Lean/Six Sigma/Continuous Improvement
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience leading people
  • GE will require proof of status prior to employment.


Desired Characteristics:
  • Experience leading Kaizen events
  • Engineering and/or Materials background
  • Previous manufacturing background in assembly and/or machining environments
  • Strong background in lean manufacturing, continuous improvements, and problem solving
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Developed interpersonal and leadership skills
  • Ability to work independently
