The salary range for this position is $131,700 - $219,300 USD Annual. The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate's experience, their education, and the work location. Job Description
Essential Responsibilities
- Own the process and work instructions for how engineering requirements are defined and validated through a classical V-model approach within the Wind product design process.
- Champion a product design process that is based on requirements, risk management, and validation activities that flow through the Product Breakdown Structure (PBS) and is integrated into the Engineering Technical Review process.
- Drive system thinking for how DFMEA, PFMEA, verification activities, and validation are directly linked to requirements.
- Own the tactical and long-term strategy for an automated requirements management tool.
- Identify which failure modes, verification, and validation must be technically underwritten prior to Quality-gates by aligning the management of requirements to the corresponding APQP/PPAP/SEDR and technical review processes.
- Coach and train others in the skill and art of writing good requirements.
- Drive alignment of DPs and requirement definition so that requirements are clearly specified in the context of the DP content.
- Operate within the Engineering organization, in alignment with the office of the Chief Engineer.
- Lead the systems engineering team in making complex technical decisions that are considered high risk or will have significant impact on scope, or schedule.
- Review technical work for the team's projects and mentor the technical teams.
- Provide focused support on key projects where technical innovation is needed.
- Provide design review support as either a reviewer or chair to overall wind engineering
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited university in Engineering or related Science fields
- Minimum 7 years experience in an engineering capacity, including prior Wind Turbine Systems Engineering experience

- Considered an expert in Wind Turbine technology as demonstrated through prior successful wind turbine development
- Strong problem identification and root cause analysis skills
- Ability to break-down complex issues, determine possible courses of action, and enable effective decision making
- Demonstrated ability to work across wind turbine systems
- Proven ability to build relationships across a global matrixed organization
- Recognized as an expert in the generation, verification, and validation of requirements for wind turbine systems
- Demonstrated ability to document, plan, and lead knowledge technology enhancements
- Knowledgeable about GE Wind Turbine design practices
- Knowledgeable about 3rd party certification requirements
- Conceptual design and system-level trade-off experience
- Field issues, test and/or validation experience
