What are the responsibilities and job description for the Intern/Co-op - OTHSAL position at GE?
Role Summary:
As a Corporate Healthcare Accounting Intern, you will be responsible for one or more corporate benefit accounting or controllership process(s). You will need to develop effective relationships with the internal and external suppliers that administer the process. Assist with identifying and resolving operational issues as they arise & support process improvements. Work cross functionally with internal teams and suppliers.Essential Responsibilities:
The following are general areas of responsibilities/functions that may be associated with a given internship:- Preparation of daily wire payments to suppliers
- Request additional information from suppliers as necessary to support out of range balances
- Preparation of monthly account reconciliations
- Preparation of monthly employee pay-all wire payments
- Assist in the monthly Admin payment process
- Prepare and post general ledger journal entries
- Support quarter close
- Support Lean process improvements
- Support for the overall Healthcare Accounting team
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Must be a full-time, matriculated student at an accredited college or university for the entire internship
- Must be a Senior or in Grad School with a minimum GPA of 3.0 \\
- Must be pursuing a degree in Finance or Accounting
- Must commit to one year (no summer internships)
- Must meet minimum hour requirements:
- 20 hours per week during school
- 40 hours per week when school is not in session
- Must be authorized to work in the US
- Strong systems skills, experience with financial systems/applications
Desired Characteristics:
- Basic knowledge in accounting and finance concepts including preparation of journal entry preparation and account reconciliations
- Demonstrate organizational skills, attention to detail, and accuracy
- Demonstrate analytical and problem-solving skills in addition to identify opportunities for continuous improvement
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Motivated self-starter who can manage multiple tasks simultaneously with minimal supervision
- Ability to learn fast and work in a team environment
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
