The position is part-time with the opportunity to develop into a full-time position if desired.
Contract work (1099) with the ability to work remotely, create your own schedule, caseload size and areas served.
Starting Pay Range from $50 to $62 per billable hour depending on experience level.
Requires local travel, reliable transportation, auto insurance as well as professional liability insurance.
Job Description: A behavioral consultant offers support to individuals who are experiencing or are likely to experience challenges accessing and actively participating in the community because of behavioral, social, or emotional challenges. The behavior consultant role is intended to empower individuals and families to lead their best life. Consultants will emphasize the individual’s strengths and unique abilities to accomplish self-determination, interdependence, productivity, integration, and inclusion in all facets of community life, across all environments, across the lifespan.
Qualifications:
Applicant Must possess one of the following for Level 2 Behavior Management:
1. have a master's degree in clinical psychology, counseling psychology, school psychology, or another applied health service area of psychology; special education; social work; or counseling.
2. be a licensed marriage and family therapist;
3. be a licensed clinical social worker;
4. be a licensed mental health counselor;
5. have a master's degree in a human services field and be able to demonstrate to the BDDS behavior management committee that the individual has either coursework in or five (5) years of experience in devising, implementing, and monitoring behavior support plans.
Prefer applicants who have experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities.
Major Duties:
1. Completing the functional behavioral assessment: this includes observation, environmental assessment, record reviews, interviews, data collection, complete psychosocial and biomedical history to identify targeted behaviors, the function of those behaviors, and to hypothesize the underlying need for new learning.
2. Developing a comprehensive behavioral support plan and subsequent revisions: this includes devising proactive and reactive strategies designed to support the individual. Any restrictive techniques employed as part of the behavioral support plan must be approved by a human rights committee, be time-limited, and regularly reviewed for elimination or reduction of the restrictive techniques to ensure appropriate reduction in these interventions over time
3. Obtaining consensus of the IST that the behavioral support plan is feasible for implementation and uses the least restrictive methods possible
4. Supporting the individual in learning new, positive behaviors as outlined in the behavioral support plan. This may include coping strategies, improving interpersonal relationships, or other positive strategies to reduce targeted behaviors and increase quality of life
5. Training staff, family members, housemates, or other IST members on the implementation of the behavioral support plan
6. Consulting with team members to achieve the outcomes of assessment and behavioral support planning
7. Produce plans, reports, and documentation within timeframes put forth in state of Indiana guidelines.
8. Development of Program Aides as needed to compliment program implementation.
9. Keep current on Professional standards and complete all annual training requirements including obtaining 10 continuing education credits.
Responsibilities of Behavior Consultant:
1. Provide Supports that focus on the individual leading their best life and that put the wants and needs of the individual receiving support before those of other individuals or agencies providing supports.
2. Maintain regular, effective communication and contact with the individual supported, family members, staff members, clients, and all other treatment team members as applicable.
3. Maintain professional conduct across all settings and in all communications.
4. Ensure the privacy of the individuals supported by following all HIPAA guidelines.
5. Participate in team meetings.
6. Review the efficacy of the plan at least quarterly and adjusted as necessary.
7. Provide a written report to pertinent parties at least quarterly.
8. Provide support and services where needed: home, community, day program, etc.
9. Maintain documentation that meets the requirements of the 460 IAC 6.
