Job Description
Title : Lunchroom-Playground Aide
Purpose Statement
The job of Lunchroom-Playground Aide is done for the purpose / s of performing non-classroom supervision duties, in the cafeteria, indoor assembly areas, outdoor eating areas, halls and restrooms and on the playground.
This job reports to Assigned Supervisor.
Essential Functions
- Follow outlined behavior support plan and reports recurring behavioral problems and / or safety hazards to teachers or other designated school staff for maintaining a safe school environment.
- Monitor students during meal periods and on the playground for maintaining acceptable behavioral standards at meals and playtime and encouraging students' participation in games and other activities.
- Promote standards of courtesy and behavior expected of students (e.g. at mealtimes and during play periods, etc.) for maintaining a school environment conducive to social and academic learning.
- Provide supervision and direction to students during meals and playtime for ensuring a safe mealtime and playtime environment is maintained.
- Respond to emergency situations (e.g. injured students, student disputes, etc.) for resolving immediate safety concerns and directing to appropriate personnel for resolution.
- Respond to inquiries from a variety of sources for resolving issues, providing information and / or direction to other sources.

satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include adhering to safety practices.
KNOWLEDGE is required to perform basic math; understand written procedures, write routine documents, and speak clearly; and understand multi-step written and oral instructions. Specific knowledge-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include : Standards of courtesy and behavior expected of students; age appropriate activities; cultural competency while working collaboratively with diverse groups and individuals; safety practices and procedures; and stages of child development is desirable.
ABILITY is required to schedule activities; collate data; and use basic, job-related equipment. Flexibility is required to work with others; work with data utilizing specific, defined processes; and operate equipment using defined methods. Ability is also required to work with others; work
with specific, job-related data; and utilize specific, job-related equipment. Problem solving with data requires following prescribed guidelines; and problem solving with equipment is limited. Specific ability-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include communicating with persons of diverse backgrounds; adapting to changing work priorities; and, maintaining confidentiality.

Work Environment
The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands : some lifting, carrying, pushing, and / or pulling, some stooping, kneeling, crouching, and / or crawling and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally, the job requires 0% sitting, 10% walking, and 90% standing. The job is performed in a generally hazard free environment.
Experience : Job related experience is desired.
