What are the responsibilities and job description for the Diesel Mechanic - B Tech position at Gebhart Holdings?
POSITION SUMMARY : The Diesel Mechanic - B Tech will work alongside our team of shop employees to maintain fleet vehicles / assets and increase the efficiency of Wabash Trucking's maintenance department.
REPORTS TO : Service Shop Supervisor
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES :
Maintains a working knowledge of, and moderate skill proficiency in the following vehicle components and systems, with the ability to perform preventative and repair maintenance functions, both on-site and on the road.
Chassis component repair and maintenance.
Truck bodies, including control, hydraulic and electrical systems; Air and hydraulic braking systems.
Engine repair and maintenance.
Suspension, drivetrain, and steering systems.
Heating and air conditioning systems.
Line maintenance welding and fabrication.
Identifies the source of the malfunctions using a variety of electronic tools.
Completes applicable company training programs.
Performs other job-related duties as assigned or apparent.
EDUCATION AND / OR EXPERIENCE :
Valid Driver's License required.
High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Trade school diploma preferred.
ASE Heavy Truck Certifications (T1 through T8) are a plus but not required.
Class B or higher CDL is a plus but not required.
4 years of experience as a technician working on heavy-duty trucks preferred.
COMPETENCIES :
Extensive knowledge of all aspects of maintenance and repair.
Proficient with related computer diagnostic equipment and software.
Ability to visually diagnose mechanical issues.
Ability to read service and repair manuals.
Ability to read work orders.
Ability to complete required paperwork to document work and parts utilized.
