Geisinger offers Acute Care Pharmacists up to a $30,000 sign-on bonus for eligible candidates (full-time). The Pharmacist provides quality pharmaceutical care defined as being responsible for assuring the provision of safe, efficacious and cost-effective medication therapy for all patients.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality pharmaceutical care to patients in a specific care area.
- Coordinate resources to provide timely, efficient, and cost-effective care.
- Receive and interpret physicians' medication orders, clarifying or correcting them as needed.
- Review patient medication profiles for potential issues.
- Suggest formulary alternatives based on patient parameters.
- Provide drug information to healthcare professionals.
- Offer patient discharge medication consultations.
- Make rounds with medical services.
- Calculate drug dosages using pharmacokinetic parameters.
- Verify provider-entered orders and ensure proper doses dispensed.
- Provide in-services to other healthcare providers.
- Prepare special medications through compounding procedures.
- Report supply and equipment needs to maintain stock levels.
- Supervise and coordinate work activities, promoting professional competence.
- Assist and supervise pharmacy technicians, students, and interns.
- Resolve problems involving pharmacy services with medical and nursing personnel.
- Coordinate activities with other pharmacy personnel to achieve objectives.
This role involves working in a clinical environment and is accountable for satisfying all job-specific obligations and complying with organization policies and procedures. Education Requirements
A Bachelor's Degree in Pharmacy (Required) and a Doctoral Degree (Preferred)Certifications and Licenses
