What are the responsibilities and job description for the Medical Matron position at Geisinger?
**Job Summary**
As a Nurse Practitioner in Behavioral Health, you will work collaboratively with physicians to provide high-quality care to patients. Your autonomy and expertise will be valued as you conduct patient evaluations, assessments, diagnoses, treatments, and follow-up care.
In this role, you will take part in various activities, including triage, telephone communication, and patient education. Accurate and complete entries into the electronic medical record are essential, and you will order and interpret diagnostic testing as needed. Additionally, you will consult with specialists and prescribe appropriate medication based on evidence-based practice.
Your responsibilities will also include evaluating and reporting to collaborating physicians any circumstances or approaches to medical management that present a significant risk to patient health or well-being. Effective communication is crucial, and you will interact with collaborative physicians, patients, primary care physicians, and referring staff through phone calls or correspondence.
With empathy and understanding, you will instill confidence in your patients by providing safe, ethical care and health education. You will adhere to policies and guidelines, interpreting and following procedures to meet goals and deadlines.
