R-46954 ### Job SummaryThe Geisinger Neuroscience Institute is seeking an individual for theNeuroscience Advanced Practice Residency Program. ### Job DutiesThe qualified candidate, under the responsibility and supervision of aphysician, will participate in diagnostic and therapeutic tasks to furthereducate the Advanced Practitioner (AP) Resident in neuroscience knowledge,patient care decision-making, and patient care management. The AP Residentwill collaborate with the neurologists and neurosurgeons to provide care tonew or established patients, assure continuity of care and advocacy forpatients, and served as a liaison between physicians and patients.Additionally, the AP Resident will collaborate with medical staff members,nursing personnel, and other departmental staff to coordinate patient carerequirements. The AP Resident will spend 12 months in neuroscience completing rotations inNeurodiagnostics, General Neurology, Epilepsy, Neuromuscular, ConsultativeNeurology, Stroke, Vascular Neurosurgery, Spine Surgery, NeurosurgicalOncology, Neurotrauma, Neuro-Critical Care, and an elective in a concentrationarea of the resident’s choice. The AP Resident will have a combined clinicaland didactic curriculum throughout the full 12 months. The AP Resident reports directly to the physician for all patient care-relatedfunctions and the Residency Director for all other residency-relatedfunctions. ### Position DetailsThe Physician Assistant candidate will require completion of an ARC-PA (orpredecessor organization) approved physician assistant program, current NCCPAcertification, and Pennsylvania State licensure. The Nurse Practitioner candidate will require completion of an approvedprogram for Nurse Practitioners and hold national certification that allowsthe NP to work with the patient populations and location settings associatedwith this position. Must be licensed as a nurse practitioner in the state ofPA.
