We are seeking a talented and dedicated Nurse Practitioner Addiction Medicine Trainee to join our team at Geisinger. As a key member of our Addiction Psychiatry Division, you will contribute to delivering high-quality integrated mental health and SUD/OUD services to patients in a primary care underserved community-based setting.
About the Role
The Addiction Medicine Advanced Practitioner Training Program offers comprehensive clinical training and expertise development for clinicians who will see patients at access points of care and provide mental health and addiction prevention, treatment, and recovery services.
Your responsibilities will include participating in Medications for Opioid Use Disorder (MOUD) in community-based settings, connecting patients with social supports to retain them in care, collaborating with caregivers inside and outside the immediate care team, and demonstrating effective communication with patients and care teams.
- You will assess patient medical, physical, and psychosocial status, perform history and physicals, develop assessment and treatment plans, participate in clinical patient care, and record progress notes.
- You will also order tests, examinations, medications, and therapies, arrange for discharge and aftercare, and write admission notes, progress notes, procedure notes, and discharge summaries.
