We are seeking a part-time Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our Hospital Medicine team at Geisinger Lewistown Hospital.
The selected candidate will work in collaboration with physicians to provide care to new and established patients. They will demonstrate autonomy through patient evaluation, assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up care.
Key Responsibilities
- Patient Care:
- Assess and establish a presumptive diagnosis and implement treatment plans for patient populations.
- Makes accurate and complete entries into the electronic medical record; orders and interprets diagnostic testing and consults as appropriate and prescribes appropriate medical therapy utilizing evidence-based practice.
- Prescribes, adjusts, or discontinues medications or therapies as appropriate.
- Evaluates and reports to collaborating physician any circumstances or approaches to medical management or test results that present a significant risk to patient health or well-being.
- Collaboration and Communication:
- Communicates with collaborative physicians, patients, primary care providers, and referring staff through telephone or other means of correspondence.
- Instills confidence in patients by acting as their advocate, providing safe, ethical care, and health education to patients and their families in a language they can understand.
- Professional Development:
- Interprets and follows policies and guidelines to define procedures and meet goals and deadlines.
- Education and Certification:
- Master's Degree - Physician Assistant (Required)
- Certified Physician Assistant - National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA); Basic Life Support Certification - Default Issuing Body
