Job Overview
The selected candidate will work collaboratively with physicians, providing care to new and established patients. This role requires autonomy in patient evaluation, assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up care. The individual will order testing as needed, remain proficient in interpreting results, and prescribe appropriate medication and therapeutic regimens within the scope of practice.
Responsibilities
- Assess and establish presumptive diagnoses and implement treatment plans for assigned patients.
- Makes accurate and complete entries into the electronic medical record, orders diagnostic testing, interprets results, and prescribes medical therapy utilizing evidence-based practice.
- Prescribes, adjusts, or discontinues medications or therapies as necessary.
- Evaluates and reports significant risks to patient health or well-being to collaborating physicians.
- Performs procedures within the scope of practice for the physician assistant license.
- Communicates effectively with collaborating physicians, patients, primary care providers, and referring staff through various means.
- Provides safe, ethical care and health education to patients and their families in a clear and understandable manner.
- Interprets and follows policies and guidelines to define procedures and meet goals and deadlines.
