What are the responsibilities and job description for the Sterile Processing Technician CEP - Internal Only position at Geisinger?
Responsible for all aspects of the Sterile Processing Technician including designated responsibilities as they relate to instrument asset management, decontamination, assembly, sterilization, and process improvement efforts. Assists the lead technician as an additional resource to answer questions and resolve problems.
- Performs duties as a preceptor and educator.
- Serves as support for new employees.
- Provides small group in services and informal educational displays in the department.
- Assumes duties as mentor.
- Works with department management and educator to review and revise tech orientation program, as necessary.
- Helps coordinate activities with surgical pods, other teams, and departments.
- Facilitates effective communication between surgical pod special needs and the Central Sterile department.
- Evaluates operations and recommends changes to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
- Serves on department and hospital committees as requested.
- Takes lead on special projects as assigned.
- Performs all duties of a Sterile Processing Tech.
