Responsibilities:

As a Gelson's Distribution Center Porter, you will be responsible for performing maintenance and janitorial duties throughout the building to ensure that the entire premises and all the fixtures are kept clean and sanitary. Duties include maintenance and cleaning in all restrooms, sweeping and scrubbing the floors, picking up and managing trash throughout the building, and maintaining duty logs. The Porter must ensure that the building and surrounding areas are presentable and offer a positive working environment for employees.

Your Responsibilities Will Include, But Are Not Limited To

• Clean and sanitize bathrooms, including all plumbing fixtures; replenish paper and soap supplies in all restrooms as required.
• Empty all trash containers and dispose of rubbish according to company policy.
• Clean, sweep, scrub, strip, wash and buff floors in other areas as required.
• Clean and maintain employee breakroom and lunch areas.
• Handle damaged and spoiled products according to company policy.
• Employ the company HAZCOM program when necessary.
• Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and health and safety regulations. Follow safety and sanitation guidelines to ensure a clean and safe working environment.
• Embrace new challenges and be a flexible team player, taking on responsibilities as needed.
• Other duties and responsibilities as required.
  
  

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Strong organizational and multitasking skills
• Ability to lift and move heavy items and stand for extended periods
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
• Flexibility to work a varied schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
  
  

Physical requirements:

• Continuous hand manipulation including, grasping, pushing, pulling and fine manipulation
• Reaching above and at shoulder level frequently
• Standing, walking, bending up to 8 hours per day
• Walking on uneven surfaces
• Lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs.
• Driving moving equipment (Pallet lifter)
• Working near hazardous equipment (Baler, power scrubber, buffer, trash compactor)
• Exposure to dust, gas, fumes (Cleaning solvents, Receiving dock)
• Exposure to extremes in temperature (Coolers, freezers)
• Working with biohazards such as blood borne pathogens and sewage (Restrooms)

Union pay range: $18.30 - $18.55
