- Work with an individual student to reinforce instruction or skills outlined by certified staff.
- Assist an individual student with any personal care needs, including but not limited to restroom visits.
- Records and reports changes in the students' physical condition, behavior, or appearance.
- Assist the certified staff in devising strategies for reinforcing learning and skills based on the individual student’s needs, interests, and abilities.
- Introduce online software programs, monitors student progress, and proctors curriculum-based testing and makeup work as assigned by the certified staff.
- Communicate student progress to certified teacher.
- Demonstrate ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students in school environment and community.
- Other duties as assigned.

- Minimum Education – High School Graduate, some higher education preferred
- Certified Nurse Assistant license or the ability to obtain Licensure
- Ability to obtain paraprofessional certification (this must be completed prior to tutoring students)

Summary:
The principle function of an employee in this class is to assist special education students requiring significant and regular personal care. The position assists in the implementation of a student’s Individual Education Plan (IEP). The position works with students who have more severe physical, emotional, and/or learning disabilities. The work is performed under the supervision of a special education teacher, classroom teacher, and the building Principal. The principle duties of this position are performed in a classroom environment and may include exposure to body fluids and some personal injury risk from student behaviors. Wage is $14.78/hr.
