ABOUT THE ROLE

We are seeking an Industrial Hygiene and Safety Professional to join our team supporting the Oak Ridge National Laboratory! This position is full-time and will be based out of Oak Ridge, Tennessee. This role is anticipated to be short-term (6 months) with the possibility of extension.

Responsibilities

• Provide Industrial Hygiene & Safety technical guidance to operations on environmental remediation problems and issues.

• Monitoring, assessing, and resolving health and safety issues in the work environment.

• Identifying and evaluating chemical/material dangers in hazard analysis/exposure assessment activities.

• Utilizing IH instrumentation including calibration, usage, limitations, and calculations/interpretations of results.

• Implementing applicable occupational health and safety regulations and procedures.

Requirements

• Education & Years of Experience – Bachelor’s Degree and 5 years of relevant experience.

• Citizenship – To be considered, you must be a United States (U.S.) citizen due to the federal nature of the work

• Clearance – To be considered, you must be able to obtain and maintain a government issued clearance, if needed

• Must have a strong background in IH (preferably for an R&D organization).

• Knowledge and background in chemical/material identification and evaluation along with experience in hazard analysis/exposure assessment activities.

• Technical knowledge of IH instrumentation including calibration, usage, limitations, and calculations/interpretations of results.

• Must have excellent communication skills to effectively convey major elements of IH&S, clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing to diverse audiences.

• Must have experience preparing, reviewing and presenting Industrial Hygiene & Safety (IH&S) protection reports.

Desired Skills

• Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) certification, preferred.
