Accounting Intern

GEMCO Constructors, founded in July of 2014, is headquartered in Indianapolis, Indiana. GEMCO is a national mechanical, electrical, plumbing, building automation systems and service contractor providing comprehensive design and build solutions for its customers throughout the United States. GEMCO is coast to coast holding engineering and construction registrations, licenses, and certifications within 30 states.

Position Summary 

Under supervision from the Director of Accounting , the Accountant Intern is responsible for entering all invoices, routing them for approval, reconciling and paying the Home Depot and Lowes credit accounts and reconciling vendor statements at month end. 

Primary Responsibilities and Duties 

• Prepare, record, and verify all invoices for proper payment. This includes matching invoice to proper receivers, ensuring proper coding and accurate data entry 

• Assist with month end closing 

• Reconcile and record AP credit card activity 

• Reconcile vendor statements  

• Maintain all accounts payable documentation and files  

• Perform other duties as assigned 

• Health Insurance reconciliation 

• Fixed Assets 

• Levelset lien tracking 

• Accounts Receivable Billings 

• Prepare Lien Waivers to send to suppliers/contractors 

• Reach out to contractors for payment updates 

• Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements 

• Prefer 2 year degree or certificate in accounting/bookkeeping, however equivalent combination of education, skills and experience may be considered.  

• Must have Excel knowledge (as well as Word/Outlook) 

• Job costing experience a plus 

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills 

Physical Demands 

• Primarily in an office environment.  

• Will be expected to travel as needed.   

• Periodic weekend or evening work is possible.
