- High School diploma, or GED
- Motor coordination, manual and finger dexterity
- Overhead Crane License
- Industrial Truck License
- Ability to read and interpret documents
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure - using whole numbers, fractions, decimals
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of situations
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions (written, oral, diagram, etc.)
- Knowledge of CNC and manual machines used to manufacture tooling
- Organizational skills
- Computer skills
Set up and operate lathe machine to perform machining operations such as training, boring, facing, and threading parts by performing the essential job functions.
Essential Job Functions
- Read process sheets, blueprints and sketches of parts to determine machining to be done, dimensional specifications, set up and operating requirements.
- Retrieve CNC program from DNC computer.
- Insert work piece into chuck or other holding device.
- Select and install preset tooling in tool posts, turrets or indexing heads, and automatic tool change magazine in sequence specified on process sheet.
- Operation of CNC Lathe: depress buttons, toggles, etc and start machining operation.
- Perform dry run and observe numerical displays on control panel and compare with data on process sheet to verify dimensional adjustments, feed rates, and speeds of machining cuts.
- Adjust dials and switches to override CNC program and correct machine performance as necessary.
- Study job packet and organize materials for next run during automatic cycles to shorten change over time.
- Set up and operate another machine tool during CNC controlled machining cycles as necessary.
- Communicate with individuals associated with the production of each job.
- Perform and document specified inspection criteria.
- Identify and communicate any suspect and/or non-conforming product to the appropriate supervisor.
- Complete any necessary non-conforming product paper work.
- Deliver non-conforming product to designated area.
- Scan on and off of all jobs ran during shift for costing analysis.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedures and work instructions.
- Perform necessary machine maintenance at specified intervals.
- Ability to write simple correspondence.
- Ability to speak effectively with others.
- Ability to calculate figures.
- Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
