The ideal candidate will be responsible for working with senior management to develop financial strategies for the organization. You are comfortable handling large amounts of data, acting as a business partner and decision-maker, and providing regular financial reporting.


Responsibilities:


  • Prepare and analyze financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements, to provide accurate and timely financial information to management
  • Oversee the financial close process to ensure sales, inventory, and other activities have been appropriately recorded.
  • Reconcile POS system transactions, including cash, bank, and credit card payments.
  • Conduct variance analysis to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and financial metrics to assess the retail business and restaurant's economic performance and make recommendations for improvement.
  • Develop annual operating budgets in collaboration with business department heads and management.
  • Prepare financial and cash flow forecasts and projections based on market trends, historical data, and business objectives.
  • Monitor actual financial performance against budget and forecast and provide insights to support decision-making.
  • Establish and maintain internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure compliance with accounting standards, regulations, and company policies.
  • Assess the effectiveness of internal controls and identify areas for improvement.
  • Coordinate external audits and liaise with auditors to provide necessary documentation and support when necessary.
  • Manage cash flow and liquidity to ensure adequate funds are available for daily operations and strategic investments.
  • Monitor bank accounts, cash reserves, and investment portfolios to optimize cash management strategies.
  • Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable processes to maximize cash flow efficiency.
  • Provide financial analysis and support for strategic initiatives, investment decisions, and business development opportunities.
  • Conduct feasibility studies and financial modeling to evaluate the potential impact of new projects or initiatives.
  • Collaborate with other departments, such as operations, to align financial plans with overall business objectives.
  • Communicate/liaise with external parties (e.g., CPA firm, tax advisor, auditors, etc.) when necessary.
  • Supervise and mentor finance department staff, including accountants, financial analysts, and clerical staff, when necessary.
  • Provide training, guidance, and support to develop employees' skills and capabilities.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, integrity, and continuous improvement within the finance team.


Job Requirements:


  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field. CPA (Certified Public Accountant) or equivalent certification is preferred.
  • Proven experience in financial management or accounting roles within the food & beverage and retail industries.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial analysis techniques, and internal controls.
  • Experience with financial systems (such as QuickBooks) and restaurant POS systems (e.g., Toast); working knowledge of Margin Edge/Tripleseat will be a plus.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively interact with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • Leadership abilities with a track record of building and leading high-performing teams.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
