About the role
The Director of Training & Development is a “roll up your sleeves” Leader in a lean, fast-paced environment, creating learning plans, developing training, and working with other departments on new product roll outs. This role will oversee the development of our training department including onboarding a training team, development and deployment of our strategic plan. In this highly dynamic and visible role, reporting to the SVP of Operations, you will be creator, builder, program designer, and leader. You will need to be an independent self-starter and builder while connecting key initiatives directly to the actual operations of the business.
A Director of Training is responsible for aligning the training strategy with the organizational goals and vision. They collaborate with senior management, department heads, and external partners to identify the training needs and priorities of the workforce. They also manage the budget, resources, and staff of the training department. A director of training oversees the development, implementation, and assessment of training programs, courses, and materials. They ensure that the training content is relevant, engaging, and effective. They also monitor and report on the impact and outcomes of the training initiatives.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and lead a fully integrated training and development program with innovative, effective, and engaging content using a variety of learning modalities, including but not limited to, eLearning, LMS, and Instructor-led training.
- Analyze, design, develop, implement, and evaluate our training and development programs and instructional content focused on customer service, leadership, and operational excellence.
- Assess and re-shape curriculum and tools for training programs as needed and implement controls to ensure content accuracy.
- Execute innovative training best practices measured by key business results, member retention, and talent development.
- Develop and report on key learning metrics to demonstrate learning effectiveness.
- Conduct regular assessments to identify training needs and gaps within the company, and update training programs accordingly.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of training programs through feedback, assessments, and performance metrics, making improvements as necessary.
- Oversee and administer all training and professional development functions to include, but not limited to, creating and/or developing course content, facilitating and/or conducting training sessions/workshops, planning and implementing corporate training initiatives, conducting needs assessments, measuring training effectiveness and ensuring on-the-job application of service, leadership, specialty and department-specific training initiatives.
- Develop and create training resources for field operations and maintain/update systems training environment and library of training resources to align with operational excellence standards.
- Track, monitor and provide updates for all assigned projects.
- Writing, training, filming, film editing, and/or web/graphic design experience is preferred.
- Comprehensive understanding of instructional theory and learning management systems.
Requirements and Education:
- BA/BS degree in business, communication, or related field preferred; 5 plus years Restaurant Management and Training experience required; multi-unit/state restaurant experience desired; and a record of success in leading, managing, coaching and developing high performance teams is a plus.
- Minimum of three years' experience in end-to-end designing, developing, facilitating, and analyzing multi-unit training, customer service, learning and development programs, with at least five years in a leadership role
- Clear and succinct communication in a variety of settings and styles and have the ability to convey information to others so that messages are understood, and outcomes delivered.

Pay: $100,000.00 - $175,000.00 per year
