What are the responsibilities and job description for the Training Instructor - Quality Assurance Inspection (Groton) position at General Dynamics Electric Boat?
Overview:
The successful candidate will be a collaborative member of the NQC/QA Training team and will be responsible for:
- Assist Quality Control Management in establishing curriculum, managing course training materials, class room and practical training, and oversight of performance for inspectors in the piping and mechanical, electrical, and structural fields.
- Develop curriculum from technical requirements, conduct and evaluate training and verify inspector competencies.
- Observe work activities to validate alignment of work performance and training curriculum.
- Coordinate scheduling of initial and re-qualification training and prepare training schedules as required to ensure all requirements are implemented.
- Delivers learning in a variety of roles as an instructor, facilitator and/or coordinator. Plans and ensures learning delivery, venue and logistical needs best fit desired outcomes
- Willing to work all shifts to support inspector training needs at the Groton Shipyard and Quonset Point Facility.
- Assesses the value of delivered training and talent development activities for business impact. Utilizes results to make adjustment(s) to improve and maximize learning design and delivery.
Required:
- 3 years’ experience in one or more of the following inspection methods: System Cleanliness Inspections, Pipe/Mechanical Inspections, Electrical Inspections; or 6 years’ experience in instructing adult learners in a technical background; or experienced with naval nuclear propulsion; or BS/BA degree in adult education, curriculum development
- The capability to learn and use electronic systems i.e.: MS Office Suite and Learning Management Systems (LMS).
Preferred:
- Bachelor’s degree in Workforce Education and Development; Nuclear Engineering Technologies; Navy Master Training Specialist (MTS) or Journeyman Instructor Training (JIT); or closely related field preferred.
- Experience in delivering naval or shipyard training to adults.
