A Safety Manager is responsible for company safety compliance and must understand, practice, implement, and provide training and education on OSHA, federal, state, and local safety rules and regulations applicable to the company, its employees, and its independent contractors. An employee in this position will also help set compliant safety standards and procedures for the company's workforce, its job sites, and will assist with ensuring they are carried out on a daily basis. This position reports to and works directly with the Safety Director.

Education and/or Experience
Four (4) years minimum related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Language Skills
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume and distance.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
Certificates, Licenses and Registrations
Valid driver's license. CDL preferred OR acquired within 90 days of employment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned:
- Work with the Safety Director to establish and administer the company's Safety Program
- Conduct regular job site compliance inspections to ensure the company's standards and procedures, as well as all applicable state, federal and local safety regulations, are being followed; take corrective action on any unsafe acts or hazards
- Schedule and conduct employee training and maintain training logs
- Assist or review all accident investigations and assist with injury management
- Work in cooperation with Human Resources to develop and monitor claim reporting procedures
- Help conduct company-wide safety meetings
- Support in the management of the safety manual and implement or remove policies as needed; update forms as necessary
- Manage and lead process of OSHA job site visits, while assisting and leading General Excavating personnel; coordinate any follow-up documentation with appropriate OSHA personnel
- Attend seminars and classes to stay up to date and compliant with state and federal regulations
- Conduct annual equipment inspections
- Assist Project Management in the pre-planning of operations to ensure safety requirements are met, such as subcontractors safety program, job hazard analysis, training credentials
- Obtain and post necessary warning signs and safety posters
- Work with the appropriate departments to establish procedures for handling safety complaints from employees and the public
- Assist in managing company hazardous communication training and documentation
- Maintain regular and reliable attendance and physical presence at the assigned workplace
