What are the responsibilities and job description for the Manufacturing Manager (Haltom City Location) position at General Plastics & Composites, LP?
GP&C is looking for a proactive and passionate Manufacturing Manager that will manage day-to-day operations, drive continuous improvement, and accomplish critical KPIs for our Haltom City location, which focuses on the production of rubber materials, rubber injection molding, and compression molding. This position will be responsible for creating a culture of safety, quality, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
- Lead, develop, and mentor production leaders and hourly workforce to build a high-performance culture focused on engagement, accountability, and results.
- Oversee and optimize the use of manpower, equipment, and materials to meet production goals and maintain cost-effectiveness.
- Drive proactive problem-solving and root cause resolution of manufacturing issues to minimize downtime, improve reliability, and sustain production continuity.
- Closely monitor organizational metrics, identify opportunities, and implement improvements to achieve company goals and objectives related to Safety, Quality, Productivity, On-Time Delivery, and Continuous Improvement.
- Establish production goals, set expectations, and hold the team accountable for production output and continuous improvement.
- Own the safety culture, driving employee engagement, behavior-based safety, and compliance with all safety policies and regulations.
- Work with Planning to coordinate scheduling, evaluate staffing needs, and execute on production demand.
- Collaborate with manufacturing engineering to support new product development, ensure successful production handoff of new products, and drive continuous improvement of production processes.
- Build and sustain a culture of operational excellence, teamwork, and continuous improvement using lean principles and data-driven decision making.
- Develops strong interpersonal relationships within all levels of the organization to foster team culture.
- Set clear expectations for production staff, assess performance, and drive accountability.
- Analyzes and monitor expenditures to conform to budgetary requirements.
- Utilize Excel and other tools to collect, analyze, and interpret operational data to generate reports and/or identify areas for improvement.
- All other duties as assigned.
Desired Skillset:
This role is expected to have strong or expert level skills in the following areas:
- People Leadership and Management
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes; experience in production environment
- Lean manufacturing concepts such as SMED, 5S, kanban, kaizen.
- Communication and Presentation Skills
- Resource Management (manpower, equipment, scheduling)
- Use and familiarity with MRP systems
- Experience identifying and implementing continuous improvement projects
- Ability to read and understand technical information, including but not limited to, manufacturing drawings, engineering instructions, and material data sheets.
- Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint, etc.)
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree from accredited university in Engineering, Business, or equivalent
- 10 years of combined experience in manufacturing environment or support roles
- 5 years in a manager or supervisor role
Preferred, but not required:
- Master of Business Administration
- Lean/Six-Sigma Green Belt certification
