General Sound is a small, woman-owned business located in Richardson, TX and has been in the life-safety industry since 1973. We install, service, and inspect fire alarm, sound, and other life safety systems in wide variety of commercial spaces including schools, data centers, hospitals, and more.
General Sound is seeking a full-time assistant project manager to aid project coordination by working with our customers, internal design team, and field technicians. The assistant project manager will help oversee the installation, commissioning, and handover of multiple construction projects in compliance with technical requirements and client specifications. This role requires strong project management skills and the ability to manage cross-functional teams effectively.

Job Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Coordinate with general contractors, other trade partners, and our technicians to ensure projects remain on schedule.
- Review documents which may have cost and design impacts on the awarded scope of work (change orders, RFI’s, review of ASIs, etc.).
- Assist with project planning, including review of the project scope, allocating resources, and developing a schedule.
- Review shop drawing markups to provide accurate project status and job costing updates.
- Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies to ensure successful project delivery
- Implement and maintain quality control measures to meet project specifications and standards.
- Manage the project closeout process to demobilize all resources and transition the project to the client through closeout documents.
- Contribute to the team effort by accomplishing other tasks.
Job Requirements:
- Valid Texas drivers license, clean driving record, and reliable transportation
- Must pass a criminal background check and drug test
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to build and maintain strong client relationships.
- Strong organizational and project planning skills with attention to detail.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and PDF editors
- Must be able to read construction documents including Construction Drawings, Specifications, and Shop Drawings
- Professional appearance and good communication and customer service skills
- Relevant work experience/internship working for a commercial construction, engineering or architecture company a plus
