Job Overview:
The Prevention Manager oversees the daily programmatic functions in providing high-quality, equitable, community-based substance use prevention strategies. The Prevention Manager is responsible for the management of staff, project timelines, reporting and maintaining community partnerships. The Prevention Manager supports the Executive Director in the strategic development and sustainability of the coalition.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Ø Recruit, select, train and develop a passionate, diverse and highly capable staff.
Ø Facilitate two-way communication and collaboration with staff; maintain an open and transparent environment which supports a culture of respect, excellence and accountability.
Ø Lead the coalition’s development utilizing the Strategic Prevention Framework.
Ø Oversee the collection, analysis and effective use of community level data.
Ø Develop measurable strategies to expand the reach of the coalition, including developing relationships with potential members, grantors, industry groups, government and community partners.
Ø Ensure the coordination and management of all coalition projects for timely and effective execution.
Ø Work with coalition leadership to build capacity, strengthen leadership among its members, and move coalition initiatives toward long-term sustainability; represent and advocate for the coalition.
Ø Work with the coalition leadership to obtain human and financial resources to support the coalition.
Ø Ensure the coalition’s work is carried out in conformance with all grant, funding and regulatory requirements.
Ø Monitor industry trends, standards and specifications for application to the coalition's work
Ø Continually research and utilize evidence-based methods and approaches to achieve effective prevention outcomes
Ø Initiate operational and programmatic continuous quality improvements
Ø Work with the Executive Director and Board to develop strategies for achieving the mission and vision of the Coalition, in line with core values and with financial viability.

- Experience in marketing, communications, or public relations, preferably in the non- profit sector
- Thorough and effective problem evaluation and resolution skills.
- Program development, delivery and evaluation skills.
- Highly proficient usage of computer systems including Microsoft-based software, survey software, database files and e-mail
- General business/financial knowledge to prepare and manage budgets, make spending requests and monitor grant funding cycles
Qualifications:
- Five (5) years of experience working with coalitions, non-profits, community-level programs, and community engagement initiatives (preferred).
- Two (2) years of experience leading/managing a team in carrying out the day-to-day work of a non-profit agency or organization, including responsibility for managing budgets and funding allocations (preferred).
- Bachelor's degree in health science, community health, communication, behavioral health, human services, or a related field from an accredited college (required).
- Master of Public Heath (MPH) or Public Health Administration Master’s Degree (preferred).
- Certified Prevention Specialist, Certified Prevention Consultant or Certified Health Education Specialist or eligible to obtain certification within one year of hire (required).
- Dependable transportation, ability to work in office and remote as needed.
- Exhibit competency in the science of prevention as achieved by any of the following:
o Strategic Prevention Framework - Substance Abuse Prevention Skills Training (SAPST)
o Prevention Ethics Training
o CADCA’s Coalition Academy
