Experience : Work experience in a childcare or educational program is preferred. Work experience with children with disabilities is preferred. One year related experience in a leadership position or with an organization responsible for providing services for families and children preferred. Minimum General Requirements : The Youth Development Leader is responsible for implementing activities, oversight, and safety of students during after-school programming. General Requirements / Skills / Other : Must be able to pass a TB test, and to obtain a satisfactory national sex offender registry and criminal history check through the district and State of Michigan's child care licensing fingerprinting. Ability to work creatively and communicate effectively with students. Works successfully as a member of a team. Ability to use district technology and maintain proficiency as required. Represents the district professionally at all times, including following the district's dress code. Communicate professionally, effectively, and in a timely fashion. Maintains a positive working relationship with families, staff, and other stakeholders. Follows district health and safety procedures. Demonstrate the physical stamina necessary for assisting young children. Repetitive stooping, squatting, bending, lifting, walking, kneeling, and reaching while maintaining personal balance and stability are required. Implement established behavior improvement intervention plans and perform the essential job duties. Punctuality and attendance are requirements for the position. Demonstrate honesty, integrity, excellent customer service skills, and the ability to maintain a calm, poised, and professional image. Ability to exercise good judgment and make decisions following board policies and established administrative guidelines. Essential Duties (may include, but not limited to) : Engage students in facilitated play. Establish and implement standards of behavioral acceptance and ensure that each student follows it. Encourage a harmonious atmosphere by encouraging peaceful resolutions to conflicts. Assist in formulating and implementing activities and games, appropriate for each student group. Enforce decisions made by the supervisor or administrator. Interact with co-workers, administration, students, parents, and the community in positive, supportive, and cooperative ways. Ability to speak and write effectively. Subject to a criminal records check as required by the Board of Directors' policy. Adheres to program and grant documentation requirements Works with coordinator to schedule, plan, and implement all programs and activities Participates in training related to the program and the delivery of youth development activities BENEFITS Approximately 20 hours per week.
