Job Title: Team leader, OST
Time Commitment: 35-40 hours per week
Reports to: Assistant Program Manager
ABOUT
The ROCK (Reaching Our Community Kids) Center for Youth Development is a dynamic, inclusive non-profit organization providing safe and healthy developmental education, after school programs and community-based activities to help middle school and high school students succeed and thrive.
The ROCK has two umbrella programs, Discover You™, and Out of School Time (OST). While each of these programs serves a unique and critical need, they are highly interdependent and complementary of one another and most importantly, they support the identified needs of the youth in our communities. Each program is designed to help youth build character and social emotional skills, tangible life skills, instill confidence and sense of belonging, and encourage a foundation for healthy life choices and relationships.
The Role
Team leads oversee 6-12th grade students and ROCK staff in The ROCK’s after school programs at Jefferson Middle School, Northeast Middle School, Meridian Jr. High School, and The ROCK at Delta College.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Understand The ROCK’s mission and ensure staff understand The ROCK’s mission
· Work directly with staff and youth
· Encourage creativity
· Oversee day-to-day teams’ operation and performance
· Delegate tasks to staff
- Define clear expectations and objectives with staff.
- Implement the daily activity schedule and coordinate teen activities.
- Interact with and supervise teens during daily activities in a manner that ensures their safety and security
- Motivate staff to achieve organizational goals
- Responsible for matters related to student behavior
- Administer student medication or supervise self-administration of medication when necessary
- Responsible for supper/snack preparations including picking up the food and milk each day when required
- Pick up materials needed at sites
Administrative
· Responsible for distributing information to staff, youth and their parents
- Responsible for preparing for student’s arrival and closure of site when program is over
- Document all disputes and dialogs with parents, school personnel, staff and students
- Responsible for tracking all volunteer hours and ensure volunteers are meeting their intended goals
- Responsible for the maintenance of site equipment (ie: tablets, chrome books, etc)
- Responsible for requesting supplies and materials needed to run the program
- Take attendance and be aware of students at all times of arrival and departure
- Responsible for The ROCK’s CACFP program including all record keeping and reporting
- Ensure daily attendance, CACFP forms, incident/accident reports, homework logs, and any other required documentation is kept up to date and turned in when required
- After training know and implement emergency procedures
- Be aware of and reinforces ROCK rules and MPS, Swan Valley, or Delta policies and procedures of conduct and behavior
- Ensure compliance with all procedures
- Other office duties as assigned
Be a positive representative of and an active participant in the overall ROCK program
· Develop positive relationships with youth, school personnel, community leaders, parents and volunteers
- Enhance & develop partnerships with community members & agencies
· Attend and participate fully in ROCK meetings, training, and planning sessions.
· Support fundraising events to include, but not limited to the ROCK’s annual fundraising event.
· Work the occasional ROCK event and summer camps.

· Are comfortable and flexible with constant change
· Are comfortable around computers and software programs
· Have excellent communication and decision-making skills
· Have the ability to organize resources and establish priorities
· Have the ability to lead and train staff.
Minimum Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- 18 years of age or older.
· Knowledge of youth development and ability to motivate youth and help students regulate behaviors
· Ability to communicate with and interact with the general public.
· Ability to implement quality programs for youth
· Ability to organize and supervise members in a safe environment
· Ability to obtain CPR and First Aid Certifications as well as ServSafe and Asist Suicide Prevention Training Certifications (Training Provided)
· Pass a background check with fingerprinting
· Possess a valid state driver’s license
· Obtain a TB test
