Field Services Technician
Job Summary :
The Field Services Technician provides support to Network Operations, Systems Operations, and Field Services Lead on technical projects at Genesee Intermediate School District (GISD) and Shared Technical Services Districts (STS). The Field Services Technician includes planning, walkthroughs, installation, configuration, and support of equipment. The Field Services Technician also provides support and project assistance for GISD and STS technology initiatives.
Essential Duties (May include, but not limited to) :
- Provides support for Network Operations, Systems Operations, and Field Services Lead on technical projects at GISD and STS Districts with a priority on Systems Operations support.
- Assists on project implementations with regard to small and large scale device software and hardware deployments.
- Diagnoses, troubleshoots and resolves complex hardware / software problems.
- Assists with creating and maintaining standard operating procedure documentation.
- Assists with mentoring for other technicians.
- Assists with first and second level network and server issues, with an emphasis on server issues.
- Monitors and provides support for help desk project tickets.
- Assists with maintaining Windows Computer Images for GISD and STS Districts.
- Provides User Account Creation at GISD and STS Districts.
- Creates and maintains Group Policy Objects in Active Directory for GISD and STS Districts.
- Provides assistance for Shared Technical Services districts as directed.
- Consistently models Win-Win leadership.

Field Services Technician
Qualifications : Education :
Minimum high school diploma / equivalent required. A and / or MCP or equivalent industry certification preferred. Associate’s degree in computer science or related field preferred. Demonstrated current knowledge and expertise supporting desktop computers, mobile devices and peripheral equipment required.
Experience :
Minimum three years demonstrated successful current work experience supporting desktop computers and networks in a Helpdesk or field service environment. Experience with Windows Server and Active Directory administration preferred.
Skills / Other :
Ability to utilize district technology and work to maintain proficiency, as required skills sets change with technology and / or the needs of the district. Ability to adapt to changing priorities and to assimilate new knowledge quickly and effectively in order to incorporate the products and outgrowths of evolving technologies. Demonstrated effective troubleshooting, problem-solving and workstation support skills required. Demonstrated proficiency with the latest version of Windows, MS Office and Active Directory required. Must have working knowledge of MS Exchange, basic networking technologies, LAN / WAN and TCP / IP, Internet. Capable of working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. Ability to read and interpret complex user manuals to assist internal and external customers. Must demonstrate strong written, verbal, and electronic communication skills. Strong teamwork, interpersonal communication and problem-solving skills. Demonstrated mental / physical ability and stamina for meeting the essential duties of the position and the ability to travel to and from the intermediate school district and constituent districts as needed. Punctuality and good attendance are requirements for the position. Ability to work a flexible work day, work week, and work year in order to meet the needs of the position, the department and the district. Discretion with confidential information. Represents the district in a professional manner at all times. Works successfully as a member of the team. Demonstrate honesty, integrity, and professionalism at all times. Ability to exercise good judgment and make decisions in accordance with board policies and established administrative guidelines.
