Position Overview:
The Part-Time Homeless Outreach Coordinator will play a crucial role in connecting individuals experiencing homelessness with essential services and resources. Key Responsibilities:
- Outreach and Engagement:
- Conduct outreach activities in Orleans County to engage with individuals experiencing homelessness.
- Build rapport and trust with clients to understand their needs and provide appropriate support.
- Distribute essential supplies, such as food, and hygiene products.
- Resource Coordination:
- Connect individuals with local resources, including shelters, food banks, healthcare services, and job placement programs.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of available services and refer clients accordingly.
- Case Management:
- Assist clients in developing and implementing action plans to achieve their goals.
- Track and document client progress and services provided.
- Provide follow-up support to ensure clients receive ongoing assistance.
- Collaboration:
- Work with local shelters, service providers, and community organizations to enhance outreach efforts.
- Participate in community meetings and collaborations to stay informed about available resources and emerging needs.
- Reporting and Documentation:
- Maintain accurate and confidential records of outreach activities, client interactions, and service outcomes.
- Prepare regular reports on outreach activities and client needs for review by management.
Qualifications:
- Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; college degree in social work, human services, or a related field preferred.
- Previous experience working with homeless populations or in social services is a plus.
- Skills and Abilities:
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage and support diverse populations.
- Knowledge of local resources and services available to individuals experiencing homelessness.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Compassionate, non-judgmental, and patient demeanor.
- Other Requirements:
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as needed.
- A valid driver’s license and access to reliable transportation is required.
- Background check will be required.
Work Environment:
- The position involves working in various outdoor and indoor settings, including community spaces and shelters.
- The role does require traveling within Orleans County to conduct outreach activities. There is mileage reimbursement.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $17.00 - $18.00 per hour
